Let’s talk transitions!

Transitions are one of the most valuable tools we have in dressage training, and they’re something we should be incorporating into our everyday riding, regardless of the level of horse or rider.

This 18-minute Guided Ride focuses on the quality of transitions between halt and walk, and walk and trot, encouraging you to pay attention to the preparation, execution, and balance throughout each transition.

With real-time audio guidance, you’ll work through a series of exercises designed to improve responsiveness to your aids, develop better balance, and encourage your horse to remain attentive and connected throughout the work.

The focus isn’t simply on getting from one gait to another, but on how you get there! Good transitions are about preparation, clarity, timing, and maintaining the quality of the work before, during, and after each transition.

Whether you’re developing the basics with a young or inexperienced horse or revisiting the fundamentals with a more advanced horse, this session offers an opportunity to refine one of the most important elements of good dressage training.

This is an 18-minute focused schooling session rather than a complete workout. It can be used independently, repeated for additional practice, or combined with other Little Dressage Guided Rides to create a more complete schooling session.
